Manchester Angels

Overview

Manchester Angels is a technology angel investment network established by a collective of leading figures from Manchester’s rapidly growing tech sector to provide a crucial missing component of the city region’s tech ecosystem. Founded by technology investment advisory GP Bullhound, property company Bruntwood, and serial entrepreneur David Levine, it now consists of over 45 exited technology angels who are using their capital and experience to invest and support disruptive technology startups and scale-ups. As of December 2024, Manchester Angels has invested in 12 businesses, including Manchester University spinout Molymem (Advanced Materials), Twine.fm (Talent Marketplace), and HACE (Child Labour Index). The network focuses on investing in technology and IP-rich businesses where technology is used to solve a hard problem, making it difficult for others to replicate. Their angels typically invest in pre-seed and seed rounds, with investments ranging from £50k to £300k. The businesses they invest in are primarily software-based, with a preference for companies that have a defensible moat and some form of founder-market fit or early indication of product-market fit. Manchester Angels operates as a network rather than a fund, matching early-stage tech startups with the right investors. They are always on the lookout for new angels who can invest and add value to their portfolio companies, as well as founders seeking investment.
