Martin Gilbert
Overview
Martin Gilbert is a British businessman serving as the chairman of Revolut Ltd. He co-founded Aberdeen Asset Management in 1983, leading the company for 34 years and overseeing its 2017 merger with Standard Life. He has also held leadership roles at Sky plc and FirstGroup. In 2019, he became chairman of Revolut Ltd., a global financial technology company headquartered in London. Under his leadership, Revolut has expanded its services and user base significantly. Gilbert holds an LLB from the University of Aberdeen and an MA in Accountancy. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte. He has been recognized for his contributions to the financial industry, including being ranked 22nd on the Harvard Business Review’s list of the world’s top-performing CEOs in 2015. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of British American Business and has served on the International Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Gilbert holds honorary degrees from the University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University, and Heriot-Watt University. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Imperial College Business School.
