Overview

The Merseyside Catalyst Fund is a regional investment fund established to support projects that deliver economic growth and positive social contributions to the Northwest Region. It provides both equity and debt funding to development projects, green energy initiatives, and infrastructure, aiming to kick-start construction, generate jobs, and deliver sustainable developments. The fund is well-capitalized and ready to support eligible schemes, particularly in challenging market conditions. The fund focuses on all commercial and residential sectors, infrastructure, and green energy. It seeks to enhance the long-term growth prospects and competitiveness of the regional economy by supporting projects that upgrade the housing offer, regenerate deprived communities, and maximize the use of new spaces in the city. Investments are made on clear commercial terms, with a minimum investment size of £5 million. Established in 2016, the Catalyst Fund is managed by Merseyside Pension Fund, one of the largest Local Government Pension Schemes in the UK, managing the pensions of over 135,000 members. The fund advisor, CBRE Capital Advisors, advises on real estate and local investment activities, sourcing and evaluating potential investments, as well as managing and monitoring investments over their life cycle. The fund has supported various projects, including the development of a Heat Network at Liverpool Waters and the construction of 120 flats in the Rope Walks area of Liverpool.
