Nolan Bederman

Overview

Nolan Bederman is the founder and managing partner of Bederman Capital Corp., a private equity firm focused on investing in North American growth companies. The firm targets companies operating in the fields of specialty consumer, business services, and technology & media sectors. They provide financing for growth & expansion capital, recapitalizations, inter-generational transfers, restructuring, bankruptcy transactions, carve-outs, and industry consolidations with an investment size ranging from $10 to $45 million per company. It acquires controlling and minority stakes in the company and also makes co-investments. Prior to founding Bederman Capital Corp. in 2013, Mr. Bederman was a co-founding partner of Genuity Capital Partners, where he led and participated in numerous private equity investments, primarily focusing on specialty consumer/retail and business services. Before Genuity Capital Partners, he served as an Executive Director in private equity at CIBC Capital Partners from 2002 to 2004, and as a Vice President in the U.S. Mergers & Acquisitions group of Merrill Lynch & Co., advising global companies in sectors such as capital/consumer goods, transportation, food, and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Bederman holds a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto, where he received the Gold Medal for graduating first in his class. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Western University, where he was awarded the Chancellor’s Prize for graduating first in his class within the Economics department as well as the Faculty of Social Science. Outside of his core investing activities, Mr. Bederman currently serves as an independent director of Air Wisconsin, a regional air carrier in the United States operating a fleet of jets for American Airlines, as well as other board positions. In 2017 and 2018, as a volunteer member of the Ontario Provincial Finance Committee, he helped the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario develop a finance platform for its 2018 election. He serves as a mentor in the Leadership, Exploration, Advice, Development and Success program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Business.
