Overview

North Karelia Growth Fund is a venture capital fund dedicated to supporting recently established and young companies in Finland's North Karelia region. The fund focuses on sectors such as digitalization, forestry and bioeconomy, photonics, tourism, creative industries, and materials science. It aims to revitalize and strengthen the region's business life and entrepreneurship by providing growth capital to companies with scalable international business potential. The fund's investment strategy involves making initial equity investments ranging from EUR 25,000 to EUR 150,000, with the possibility of follow-on investments up to EUR 500,000. To qualify for investment, companies must be domiciled in the North Karelia region or have significant operations there, and their teams should be capable of building scalable international businesses. The fund is managed by Redstone Nordic Oy, with Oskari Lehtonen and Kaj Hagros serving as managers. In addition to financial support, the fund collaborates with local and national investors and works closely with Business Joensuu's Business Accelerator and internationalization services to support the domestic and international growth of its portfolio companies. This collaborative approach aims to provide not only capital but also experience, expertise, and business networks to foster the development of young growth companies in the region.
