Overview

NorthInvest is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to connecting tech and digital start-ups with mentors and investors in the North of England. Founded in 2016 by Professor Adam Beaumont, the organization aims to bridge the geographical and gender funding gap by showcasing the wealth of diverse tech founders in the region and assisting them in raising investment. NorthInvest is particularly active in sectors such as healthtech, fintech, sustainability, AI, and media. The organization operates as an inclusive community, welcoming investors from various backgrounds and experience levels. It offers free investment readiness coaching to entrepreneurs, a structured mentoring scheme, and support for non-executive director placements. NorthInvest hosts a program of events for investors and entrepreneurs throughout the year, facilitating connections and sharing sector insights. In 2022, it won Angel Group of the Year at the UKBAA Awards, recognizing its significant impact in the angel investment community. To date, NorthInvest has facilitated over £41 million of equity investment and grant funding into Northern-based tech start-ups. The organization has supported 750 entrepreneurs, engaged 220 angel investors, closed 89 deals, and hosted 260 events. Its mission aligns with the strategic growth ambition of the Northern Powerhouse, aiming to fuel the future of the North of England by facilitating investment in start-ups developing new technologies.
