Patrick McGinnis

Overview

Patrick McGinnis is an active angel investor with a diverse portfolio across various sectors. He is the managing partner of Dirigo Advisors, a firm he founded to provide strategic advice to investors, entrepreneurs, and fast-growing businesses. His investments include companies such as ipsy, the world's largest online beauty community; Bluesmart, the inventor of the world's first smart, connected carry-on suitcase; and Afiniti, a big data company reinventing the call center industry. He has also been a partner in several real estate investments and a seed investor in the London stage adaptation of The Last King of Scotland. McGinnis has over 25 years of experience in emerging markets, private equity, and venture capital, with prior roles at Chase Capital Partners, JPMorgan Partners, AIG Capital Partners, and PineBridge Investments. He holds a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. An avid traveler, writer, and speaker, McGinnis has visited more than 80 countries and is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and French. He writes for publications such as Fortune, Fast Company, Business Insider, Huffington Post, Boston Magazine, and Forbes. He is also the author of 'The 10% Entrepreneur' (Penguin Portfolio, April 2016).
