Phoenix Angels

Overview

Phoenix Angels is a not-for-profit (Section 8) company established to provide a platform connecting entrepreneurs with a diverse group of investors, including seasoned businessmen, professionals, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. Their mission is to support startups by offering not only financial capital but also experiential capital derived from years of industry knowledge and experience. This approach aims to mentor startups to the next level, providing access to networks, guidance, and mentorship. The network operates on a fixed annual membership model, with members encouraged to commit an amount of Rs 25 lakhs over a period of 5 years. This structure allows investors to participate in multiple startup investments during this period. Phoenix Angels typically invests between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 150 lakhs in startups that have a marketable product and are looking to scale. The focus is on startups that solve real-world problems, with a strong emphasis on the team behind the idea. Led by an experienced team, Phoenix Angels ensures that investors understand the investment philosophy. The team includes Shiraj Jacob, a private equity veteran and wealth management expert; Joe Ranji, a director at Manjila’s Foods with experience in cross-cultural teams; and Harikrishnan, a Chartered Accountant and MBA from IIM-K, who works with over a hundred startups, helping them with legal compliance, fundraising, valuation, and financial modeling. Their collective expertise aims to guide startups through their initial years of entrepreneurship, ensuring they scale effectively and sustainably.
