Overview

Established in 2008 during the global financial crisis, PIA Asset Management specializes in alternative investments, focusing on real estate and distressed assets. The firm began by acquiring high-quality bonds from Lehman Brothers, achieving successful investment outcomes. Over time, PIA expanded its operations to include real estate development and the acquisition of non-performing loans from domestic financial institutions. Since its inception, PIA has successfully acquired assets totaling approximately 8.75 trillion KRW (OPB principal basis). Building on its successful investment track record, the firm raised a USD 200 million NPL fund in 2014, investing in secured NPLs and undertaking domestic real estate development projects worth around 2 trillion KRW. PIA continues to pursue opportunistic and value-add investments in domestic real estate and distressed assets. To further strengthen its alternative investment capabilities, PIA established PIA Investment Management Co., Ltd. in late 2016. This subsidiary focuses on domestic and international real estate investments, as well as energy, infrastructure, and private equity, aiming to identify and invest in diverse alternative investment opportunities. Additionally, PIA Infra was established in 2019 to operate a separate entity concentrating on domestic and international infrastructure investments and advisory services.
