Pointe Angels

Overview

Pointe Angels is an independent investor club based in the Grosse Pointe communities, east of Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 2019, the group provides members with opportunities for meaningful financial returns on capital investments in scalable early-stage ventures. While they favor Michigan start-ups, they also invest globally. The club is hands-on, eclectic, and agnostic, bringing capital and 'Angel-Added Value' to grow their portfolio of companies. They have a depth of experience and breadth of resources in software, life sciences, hardware, and consumer startups. Pointe Angels focuses on ventures that grow, exit, and deliver healthy multiples to participating angel investors. They are actively investing, with 90 angel investors and 29 active Michigan investments. Their investment stages include growth/expansion, idea/pre-seed, mezzanine, seed, and startup/early. The sectors of investment encompass advanced manufacturing, advanced materials/manufacturing, alternative energy, business services, consumer products, engineering design and development, information technology, life sciences, media, medical device technology, mobility, mobility/auto manufacturing, other, and professional/corporate services. In 2024, Pointe Angels marked its fifth anniversary with its most impactful year to date, deploying $1.5 million in angel capital, resulting in more than $10 million in leveraged investments into 14 innovative startups. Eight of these companies are based in Michigan and are active in AI, cleantech, digital transformation, and life sciences. The group also welcomed startups from across the U.S. and Canada to its portfolio. Their mission is to support Michigan's innovation ecosystem while encouraging the broader venture community to see Michigan as a vibrant hub of entrepreneurial opportunities.
