Prime Media Holdings, Inc.
Overview
Prime Media Holdings, Inc. is a Philippine investment holding company primarily investing in the media industry. The company was originally incorporated on February 6, 1963, as the Private Development Corporation of the Philippines and has undergone several name changes, with its current name adopted on October 20, 2003. In 2002, Banco de Oro Unibank, Inc. assumed the servicing of the company's deposit liabilities and other banking functions. On December 6, 2002, the Board of Prime Media approved the amendment of its articles of incorporation to change its primary purpose from a development bank to a holding company focused on investments in the media industry. The company is majority-controlled by RYM Business Management Corporation, a business holding company associated with the Romualdez clan. In 2013, RYM Business Management Corporation acquired the majority stake in Prime Media from Neo Oracle. In May 2021, Prime Media Holdings signed a share-for-share swap agreement with Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC), a broadcast media company. Under the deal, PCMC shareholders exchanged their shares of common stock to take majority control of Prime Media, which acquired PCMC and became its subsidiary. On May 23, 2023, Prime Media announced a joint venture agreement with ABS-CBN Corporation. The new venture company produces and supplies various programs, including news content, to broadcasters and third-party entities, including PCMC. The joint venture also operates a radio station on ABS-CBN's former frequency 630kHz (previously known as DZMM) and manages the Filipino-language cable news channel TeleRadyo. On June 26, 2023, the station conducted a test broadcast under the DWPM callsign, and on July 17, 2023, it officially launched as Radyo 630 and TeleRadyo Serbisyo. The company has also been involved in restructuring efforts, including obtaining approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in March 2025 for its equity restructuring plan, which involved applying P253 million in additional paid-in capital to offset its deficit. The company's stock is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol PRIM. As of October 2025, the shareholding structure includes RYM Business Management Corporation as the majority shareholder, with other stakeholders including Mairete Asset Holdings Inc., Angel Maple Properties Inc., Cymac Holdings Corporation, and public stockholders.
