Prototron

Overview

Prototron is a start-up fund established in 2012 by Swedbank, Tallinn University of Technology, and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol. It aims to support innovative and sustainable technology solutions by offering equity-free funding up to €35,000 for prototype development. The fund operates two application rounds annually, selecting teams to participate in an intensive acceleration program covering financing, intellectual property, prototyping, communication, and sales. Teams receive mentoring sessions with field experts and investors, followed by pitch training and an investment-readiness program. The program is conducted in English. Prototron focuses on areas such as Greentech, Healthtech, Industry 4.0, Fintech, and Defendtech. It seeks teams with high growth potential and real market and international growth potential. The fund has supported 106 teams, distributing over €1.4 million in funding, with alumni raising more than €85 million in follow-up investments. This track record positions Prototron as one of the most productive pre-seed funds in Estonia. The fund's success is evident in the achievements of its alumni, who have launched products generating significant revenue and attracted substantial private investments. Prototron's unique approach bridges the gap between idea and working prototype, enabling startups to test their concepts and enter the market with a functional product. By providing both financial support and comprehensive mentoring, Prototron plays a crucial role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Estonia.
