Roger Jie Luo is an experienced entrepreneur and angel investor specializing in early-stage technology startups. He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Embedding VC, an early-stage venture fund based in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on backing generative AI startups. Prior to this, he co-founded two AI SaaS startups, leading efforts in engineering, machine learning, and product management. His professional experience also includes leading machine learning and applied science teams at companies such as Niantic, Snap, and Yahoo! Labs. He earned his PhD in machine learning in 2011 and has contributed over 40 papers to top AI/ML conferences and journals, as well as holding 8 US patents in AI.
