Overview

Saminvest is a state-owned venture capital firm established by the Swedish government in 2016. Its primary mission is to stimulate the Swedish venture capital market by investing in privately managed funds and angel investor programs, often serving as an anchor investor. By doing so, Saminvest aims to enhance the availability of private capital in sectors and development phases where such funding is lacking. The organization actively supports the formation of new management teams to foster growth and development within Sweden's venture capital ecosystem. Saminvest places a strong emphasis on sustainability and gender equality, setting clear requirements for funds to pursue these objectives. Investments are made on a market-return basis to encourage private co-investment. Saminvest currently manages assets of approximately 6 billion Swedish krona. As of December 31, 2023, its investments have enabled the creation of 4,383 jobs in Sweden, supported 541 companies, committed 4,777 million SEK in capital to fund investments, and generated 4,208 million SEK in revenue for the companies it has enabled. Saminvest's portfolio includes investments in various sectors, such as technology, life sciences, renewable energy, health tech, and biotechnology. The firm focuses on early-stage investments, including seed and growth phases, and operates primarily within Sweden.
