Through top-notch scientific research, dedicated business development, and project management, Sanquinnovate is committed to generating and further developing early ideas into meaningful therapeutics, blood products, and diagnostic products for patients with unmet medical needs. Sanquin is an internationally highly respected foundation with an excellent research division active in the fields of blood, transfusion medicine, and immunology. Sanquin applies this knowledge to the development and manufacturing of a range of pharmaceutical and diagnostic products and services. Its core activities also comprise the safe and efficient production and distribution of blood and plasma products for the treatment of patients. With over 200 researchers and key opinion leaders working at Sanquin, there is a wealth of technologies, research programs, tools, and knowledge available. Sanquinnovate is committed to partnering with innovators in the fight against serious diseases in the fields of hematology, immunology, and oncology. Sanquinnovate actively scouts and evaluates these ideas with a focus on their added value for patients, patentability, competitive advantage, and scientific excellence. Once ideas have met these criteria and are matured to a pre-clinical proof-of-concept phase, Sanquinnovate seeks the right partners to advance these technologies, therapeutics, and devices into IND-enabling development, clinical trials, and beyond. Sanquinnovate works with both companies and investors to achieve these goals. In 2018, Sanquinnovate participated in the Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland, a fund aimed at supporting sustainable innovations from SMEs and knowledge institutions. This initiative reflects Sanquinnovate's commitment to fostering innovation in the healthcare sector. In 2021, Sanquinnovate and Thuja, a venture capital fund manager investing in early-stage bioscience innovations, announced a five-year collaboration agreement. The partnership aims to evaluate projects and business plans related to new therapies and diagnostics, combining insights and experience to develop excellent scientific projects into start-up companies and important new medicines and diagnostics.
