Overview

Seedco is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing economic opportunity for individuals, businesses, and communities in need. Founded in 1987, Seedco operates across six states—Maryland, New York, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, and Connecticut—providing services such as workforce development, work and family supports, and small business assistance. The organization collaborates with community partners and anchor institutions to develop and implement programs that help people join the workforce, achieve economic self-sufficiency, assist small businesses, and promote asset building in economically distressed communities. Seedco's proprietary EarnBenefits Online (EBO) software is central to its work in helping low-income families successfully enroll in benefits and assistance programs. Through its initiatives, Seedco serves over 20,000 households annually, enhancing opportunities with more than 200 employers and collaborating with over 100 community-based partners. The organization's mission is to create opportunities for low-wage workers and their families by engaging with community partners and anchor institutions to develop, operate, and learn from model programs of national significance that help people join the workforce and achieve economic self-sufficiency, assist small businesses, and promote asset building for residents and businesses in economically distressed communities. Seedco operates as both a direct services provider and an intermediary organization, helping community-based organizations expand outreach and secure funding, and is an affiliate of the Acacia Network.
