Siqi Chen

Overview

Siqi Chen is an active angel investor and the CEO of Runway, a modern financial planning platform based in San Francisco. He has invested in over 100 startups, including Clubhouse and Amplitude, and has a history of supporting innovative tech-driven solutions. His investment focus spans sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Web3/Blockchain, SaaS, FinTech, Logistics, Hardware, and Insurance, with investments ranging from $50,000 to $250,000. He specializes in early-stage funding, including Pre-Seed, Seed, Series A, and Series B rounds. His geographical focus is primarily on the United States. In addition to his investment activities, Siqi has held leadership roles in several innovative companies. He served as CEO and CPO of Sandbox VR, a location-based virtual reality company, and as VP of Product & Growth at Postmates. He also founded Friends For Sale, a Facebook social game that attracted over 25 million users, and Serious Business, which was acquired by Zynga in 2010. At Zynga, he led product strategy before founding Hey, Inc., a mobile app company later acquired by Postmates in 2016. Postmates was acquired by Uber in 2020 for approximately $2.65 billion. Siqi holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego. He began his career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he contributed to machine vision systems for Mars rovers. He remains the only student ever to receive the United States Congressional Space Law Award.
