Overview

Société Wallonne de Gestion et de Participations is a public investment fund based in Liège, Belgium, established in 1984 to support business redeployment and development in Wallonia. Its sole shareholder is the Walloon Region. The fund is active in redeploying and supporting companies through financial interventions, management, and consulting, provided that these companies have their registered office or operating establishment in Wallonia. SOGEPA carries out missions entrusted to it by the Walloon Government, aiming to help companies adapt to market changes and ensure the sustainability of their activities for better development. SOGEPA's interventions can take the form of loans or equity investments, following a strict economic logic and in compliance with European competition rules. In certain cases, it can also offer interim management services to companies to cover, for a limited period, one or more levels of management (CEO, CFO, CMO, etc.). Additionally, it serves as the tool of the Walloon policy in the steel sector, making investments that promote the creation, extension, or conversion of companies in this sector. It also focuses on the conversion of steel sites and areas in partnership with local and regional operators. SOGEPA also has an Economic and Strategic Analysis Cell. It conducts studies and/or participates in works to identify sectors in transition and emerging sectors. These works are made available to companies and decision-makers to help them anticipate potential downturns, changes, and economic opportunities.
