The Stowers Institute for Medical Research is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing human health through the study of fundamental biological processes. Established in 1994 by Jim and Virginia Stowers, the institute operates with a unique funding model, receiving over $1.1 billion in dividends from its majority stake in American Century Investments between 2000 and 2019.
