Terre Adonis

Overview

Terre Adonis is a Société Coopérative d’Intérêt Collectif (SCIC) co-founded by SAFER PACA, La Coopération Agricole Sud, and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. Its mission is to facilitate the establishment and consolidation of farmers by acquiring agricultural land and leasing it to them, allowing for a deferred purchase over 7 to 15 years. This approach enables farmers to focus on developing their operations without the immediate financial burden of land acquisition. The cooperative targets projects that promote sustainable agriculture, particularly those implementing agroecological practices. By collaborating with public and private partners, Terre Adonis aims to preserve agricultural spaces and support the local economy. The organization has been recognized as a Social and Solidarity Enterprise (Entreprise Sociale et Solidaire) since 2022, reflecting its commitment to social and environmental objectives. Through its initiatives, Terre Adonis has successfully facilitated the establishment of several agricultural operations, contributing to the resilience and sustainability of the region's farming community. Its model serves as an example of how cooperative structures can effectively address challenges in land access and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
