Thomas Ball

Overview

Thomas Ball is a co-founder and managing director of Next Coast Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Austin, Texas, that specializes in early-stage investments in technology companies. Prior to founding Next Coast Ventures in 2015, he served as a general partner at Austin Ventures from 2005 to 2015, where he was involved in investing and managing over 20 investments, resulting in numerous exits and strong returns. During his tenure at Austin Ventures, he was also one of the three members of the Operating Committee, responsible for all administrative management of the firm, including recruiting and staff management. Before his venture capital career, Thomas was an entrepreneur, founding several successful companies, including Openfield Technologies, which merged with Razorgator Interactive Group, where he served as CEO, and eCoupons, where he was CEO until the company was acquired by Lifeminders. He also founded TahoDomains, an ICANN-accredited domain registrar. Thomas holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in Finance from the University of Florida. He is an active participant in the Austin community and resides in Austin with his wife and teenage twins.
