Toni Schneider

Overview

Toni Schneider is a venture capitalist and angel investor based in the United States. He is a Partner at True Ventures, a leading early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2005. At True Ventures, Toni focuses on investments in software, connected devices, and climate tech, partnering with founders who are exceptionally passionate, driven, and customer-obsessed. He has been instrumental in supporting over 1,050 founders across more than 500 companies. Before his venture capital career, Toni co-founded Uplister, a venture-backed music recommendation startup, and served as CEO of Oddpost, which was acquired by Yahoo in 2004. At Yahoo, he created the Yahoo Developer Network. From 2006 to 2014, he was the CEO of Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, where he helped scale the platform into a top-10 global internet destination with nearly a billion monthly visitors. His career in technology began as a software engineer at Crystal River Engineering, where he built 3D audio simulators for NASA, and later as Vice President of Technology at Aureal Semiconductor. Toni's investment philosophy centers on supporting visionary entrepreneurs who are committed to building impactful and customer-centric products. He has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to the startup ecosystem, including being voted Startup CEO of the Year at the 2007 Crunchies. Outside of his professional endeavors, Toni enjoys exploring the U.S. in his biodiesel Land Cruiser, rooting for the San Francisco Giants, and tinkering with old cars.
