The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TAFF) is a non-profit organization established to support the Turkish Armed Forces through various initiatives and investments. It was formed in 1987 by merging the Army, Navy, and Air Force Strengthening Foundations, which were originally founded with public donations in the 1960s and 1970s to develop defense systems and products based on modern technology. The foundation began its activities on September 26, 1987, and has since played a significant role in enhancing Turkey's defense capabilities. TAFF's investment strategy is diverse, encompassing sectors such as defense, aerospace, technology, manufacturing, and energy. The foundation is a direct or indirect shareholder in 73 companies, including six subsidiaries and nine affiliates, each undertaking significant roles in key areas of the Turkish defense industry. Notable investments include stakes in companies like ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, Roketsan, and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). These investments aim to foster innovation and self-sufficiency within Turkey's defense sector. The foundation's flagship initiative is the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF), organized biennially since 1993. IDEF has become one of the top three defense industry fairs globally, showcasing the latest technological advancements and products in the defense industry.
