Overview

Uganda Development Bank Limited (UDBL) is Uganda's national development finance institution, established in 1972. The bank's primary mandate is to accelerate socio-economic development in Uganda through sustainable financial interventions. UDBL supports projects within the private sector that demonstrate potential to deliver high socio-economic value, including job creation, improved production output, tax contribution, and foreign exchange generation. The bank operates under a zero-tolerance approach to fraud, bribery, and corruption, with mechanisms in place for anonymous reporting of non-compliance. UDBL's services encompass short-term, medium-term, and long-term loans, equity investments, trade finance loans, and bank guarantees. As of December 2024, the bank's loan portfolio was valued at approximately US$457.2 million, with total assets amounting to US$468.1 million. The bank has been recognized for its commitment to good corporate governance and has received awards from various institutions. UDBL's operations are aligned with Uganda's National Development Plan III and Vision 2040, focusing on sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, services, tourism, education, health, and construction.
