Overview

United Airlines Ventures (UAV) is the corporate venture capital arm of United Airlines, established in 2021 to invest in early-stage start-up companies focused on innovative technologies with the potential to shape the future of aviation, energy transition, and travel. UAV's mission is to drive the industry's evolution by anticipating shifts and staying ahead of the curve in shaping the future of travel. UAV's investment strategy encompasses a broad spectrum of sectors, including aerospace, next-generation air traffic control, aviation infrastructure, energy transition, and AI-driven travel innovation. The fund has made over 30 investments in companies developing technologies across these domains. Notable portfolio companies include Archer Aviation, ZeroAvia, Heart Aerospace, and Astro Mechanica. In addition to direct investments, UAV launched the Sustainable Flight Fund in February 2023, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at reducing emissions and driving the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The fund has attracted commitments exceeding $200 million from 22 corporate partners, including Air New Zealand, Embraer, Google, and Safran. This collaborative effort underscores UAV's commitment to advancing sustainable aviation technologies and fostering innovation within the industry.
