VentureSouth Asheville is a member-based angel investor network that invests in and supports startups and early-stage, high-growth companies in Asheville and across the Southeastern United States. Founded in October 2014, the group comprises over 40 individual investors who meet monthly to evaluate and fund promising ventures. The network is managed by Venture Asheville, the high-growth entrepreneurship initiative of the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County and the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. The group's investment focus spans various industries, including technology, healthcare, consumer products, manufacturing, energy, education, media, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, real estate, agriculture, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and consumer services. They provide funding at multiple stages, from seed to late-stage investments, with individual investments ranging from $100,000 to $5 million. Over the years, VentureSouth Asheville has played a pivotal role in supporting and shaping the startup landscape in the Southeastern region. Since its inception, the group has invested over $600,000 in 13 ventures, contributing to the total capital invested of over $80 million in more than 100 companies. Their collaborative approach and diverse expertise have been instrumental in fostering innovation and economic growth within the community.
