Overview

Vidya Rashesh Shah is an Indian businesswoman and investor with a diverse portfolio across multiple sectors. She serves as the Executive Chairperson of EdelGive Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Edelweiss Group, and is a Non-Executive Director at Edelweiss Financial Services Limited. Her investment focus spans private equity, venture capital, real estate, healthcare, and home services, with a geographical emphasis on India. She has been instrumental in building sustainable institutions and organizations that promote societal growth and innovation. Under her leadership, EdelGive Foundation has grown to become a platform for strategic philanthropy in India. Prior to her role at EdelGive Foundation, Vidya was associated with Edelweiss Group as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She has also worked with large financial institutions such as ICICI, Peregrine, and NM Rothschild India, as an investment banker. Vidya serves on the board of various prominent organizations like Agastya International Foundation, Asian Venture Philanthropy Network, Common Purpose, Janaagraha, Toolbox India Foundation, and Masoom. She graduated from the Bombay University and received an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Her contributions have been recognized with awards such as the 'She The People 40-over-40 Award' in 2022 and the Woman Achiever of the Year Award by ABP BFSI Awards in 2017. She was also recognized as one of India's Top 100 Women in Finance by the Association of International Wealth Management of India in 2019. Vidya continues her stride to make a difference and believes that mid-sized, grassroots NGOs have great potential to address India's development concerns. She emphasizes that collaborative philanthropy is the only way forward and aims to help all actors in the philanthropic ecosystem overcome risk-aversion and trust deficits to aid the rapid development of a stronger Indian social sector. Under her leadership, EdelGive Foundation has been instrumental in building a tight network of non-profits, philanthropists, foundations, and corporations whose support has helped scale programs that benefit close to 4.5 lakh people in need.
