Will Herman

Overview

Will Herman is a Boston-based angel investor and advisor specializing in technology startups. He has invested in over 85 startups and actively advises ten of those companies. He currently serves as a corporate director on the boards of JumpCloud and Pointillist, and operates as a dedicated startup mentor for the Techstars accelerator program. He is also a fund advisor at the venture capital firms Bolt and One Way Ventures. He authored 'The Startup Playbook', reflecting his current professional focus on guiding early-stage founders through the complexities of venture building and scaling operations. Previously, Herman was a serial entrepreneur, having founded and managed five venture-backed companies, resulting in two IPOs and two corporate sales. In a series of transactions, including multiple IPOs, acquisitions, and management buyouts, he created almost $4 billion in value for his investors. He was the CEO and founder of Viewlogic Systems and Innoveda, Inc., both suppliers of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software tools. Innoveda was acquired by Mentor Graphics in 2002. Prior to founding Viewlogic, he held management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and was involved in two other software startup operations, Dataware Logic and Health Care Computer Systems. Herman holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. He is a mentor at Techstars and a frequent speaker at startup accelerators. He lives and works mostly in the Boston area.
