Overview

The Wisconsin Impact Investing Collaborative (WI3C) is a collective effort led by a group of Wisconsin foundations committed to leveraging their assets to build inclusive, vibrant, and environmentally sustainable communities across the state's urban, rural, and tribal areas. WI3C seeks to increase the practice of regional impact investing through shared learning, investment support services, and co-investment opportunities. The goal is to make it easier for all types of investors to target a portion of their investments to create systemic, lasting positive changes for the people and environment of Wisconsin. WI3C's strategy involves harnessing investment capital to address Wisconsin's most pressing social and environmental issues. By promoting impact investing, the collaborative aims to accelerate and scale positive change, foster inclusive economies, and target investments to local communities and regions. The initiative emphasizes the importance of aligning investment assets with values to achieve measurable social and environmental impact alongside financial returns. Through its efforts, WI3C has been instrumental in mobilizing over $7 billion in assets to invest in Wisconsin, deploying more than 2,118 loans for social and environmental causes, and providing over $310 million in loans to local businesses, non-profits, and community development projects. These investments have supported the construction of community centers, affordable housing units, health centers, and have financed education, new business creation, and homeownership across the state. WI3C continues to collaborate with various stakeholders to expand the impact of its initiatives and promote sustainable community development throughout Wisconsin.
