An experienced angel investor specializing in early-stage B2B technology startups across various sectors. With over 25 years in the startup ecosystem, YekSoon has worked with many startups. He has seen the industry evolve along with the growth of the internet, from Web1 to Web3. YekSoon started his career with Singapore's first Internet startup, SilkRoute Ventures (acquired by PCCW), and has worked in the US and Germany. Other notable startups include the US's first Internet CRM firm (NASDAQ: FSTW) and Softbank-backed Reciprocal (acquired by Microsoft). YekSoon started investing in startups as an angel, and his exits include the following: 1. 3PAR (NYSE:PAR, acquired by HP) 2. RightNow (NASDAQ:RNOW, acquired by Oracle) 3. RedHat (NYSE:RHT, acquired by IBM) 4. Twilio (NYSE:TWLO) 5. Cloudflare (NYSE:NET). YekSoon started Awesome Ventures in 2020 to invest in B2B early-stage technology startups across the following sectors: ClimateTech, Enterprise Software, FinTech, MedTech, and SpaceTech. YekSoon holds a Bachelor's degree in Computing from Monash University and a specialization in Business Analytics from the Wharton School. YekSoon is a passionate ecosystem builder, actively mentoring researchers and founders through Lean LaunchPad programs at leading Singaporean universities including NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUTD, helping translate deep research into scalable, impactful businesses. Notable ventures include Innovita Synaptics (UK) and IQI Health (Singapore). He also advises family offices and global manufacturers on strategic growth, venture deals, and joint venture partnerships in critical sectors such as electronics, chemicals, metals, photonics, and robotics/drones. YekSoon is an active contributor to technology policy and ecosystem building. He is a member of India’s SCALE manufacturing taskforce, under the Ministry of Commerce & DPIIT, and has engaged with the U.S. Department of Commerce on initiatives related to the CHIPS Act. Furthermore, he leads global partnerships aimed at boosting manufacturing capabilities and enhancing supply chain resilience. His expertise encompasses deep tech strategy, growth capital navigation, government relations, and international expansion. YekSoon is fluent in Python, R, and C++, and holds certifications in Lean, Agile, and Data Science methodologies. He was educated at UCLA Anderson School of Management, IIM Calcutta, and IIM Indore, providing him with a strong foundation in both technology and global business strategy.
