How Keyword Targeting Works

This article explains how ConnectSafely scans, filters, and engages with LinkedIn posts based on your Keyword Settings.

Phase 1: Keyword Scanning & Discovery

ConnectSafely's scanning engine queries LinkedIn for recent posts matching any of your active keywords (up to 10). It fetches posts based on your configured Date Posted range (e.g. Past week or Past 24 hours).

Phase 2: Author Headline Matching

The engine checks the author of each discovered post. If you have defined Author Titles (e.g., Founder, VP Sales), the engine verifies the author's LinkedIn headline. The post is skipped unless their title matches at least one of your targets. If no titles are configured, all authors are accepted.

Phase 3: Engagement & Safety Verification

  • Likes Threshold Check: If enabled, the post is evaluated for minimal engagement. ConnectSafely will skip posts with fewer than 5 likes to ensure you are joining active conversations.
  • Daily Comment Limit: The system counts your comments. Engagement stops if you reach your daily limit (e.g. 50 comments/day) for the selected account.

Phase 4: Post Filtering Rules

ConnectSafely evaluates the content of matching posts against your exclusion rules:

  • Skip Toggles: Skips posts classified as Hiring, general status Updates, or Articles.
  • Excluded Hashtags: Scans the post body and drops any containing blacklisted tags (like #ad or #sponser).
  • AI Post Evaluation (PRO): Uses LLM evaluation to scan the post content against custom filtering prompts (e.g. "Skip promotional content or job advertisements").

Phase 5: Comment Generation & Styles

Once a post passes all discovery and filtering stages, a comment is generated:

  • Voice Styles: Uses your selected Comment Styles to define the tone and content of the generated reply. If multiple styles are chosen, one is randomly selected to keep your engagement looking natural.
  • Language: Generates comment content strictly in your selected primary language.
  • Author Tagging: Optionally tags the post author to draw direct attention to your response.

Phase 6: Queue & Schedule Distribution

Finally, the generated comment is not posted instantly. ConnectSafely queues the comment and schedules its publication distributed evenly across your configured Comment Time Window (e.g. 09:00 - 17:00) in your selected Timezone. This spaces out comments (e.g., every 5 minutes) to mimic human activity and protect your LinkedIn account from spam limits.
