Caddo Sustainable Timberlands is a timberland owner with more than 903,000 acres of ownership in Texas and Louisiana. Their mission is to generate superior financial returns and social impact through sustainable forest management and environmental stewardship. Their silviculture practices are driven by best available science and rigorous decision support tools to optimize returns and maximize the productivity of their timberlands, from site-preparation through final harvest. Caddo’s offices are located in Lufkin, TX, Jasper, TX, and Atlanta, GA. Caddo also has an exclusive relationship with TTG Forestry Services who provides turnkey management for all Caddo timberland assets. Established in 2021, with legacy going back to 1894, Caddo owns 903,000 acres in Texas and Louisiana, making it the largest private timberland owner in Texas. They serve over 30 forest product mills and provide over 700 work opportunities to employees and independent contractors. Annually, they plant over 9 million seedlings, and all their acres are SFI certified. Understanding and honoring the history and previous management of their timberland assets is a core value at Caddo Sustainable Timberlands. The story of their assets goes back to 1894 when T.L.L. Temple purchased 7,000 acres of timberland from J.C. Diboll and established Southern Pine Lumber Company, a pioneer of sustainable forestry, timberland management, and forest products innovation. As Temple and its successors grew to become a leader in the industry, the timberlands they managed became deeply embedded in the fabric of east Texas and the West Gulf region, providing hundreds of jobs, generating millions of tons of timber products annually, and offering important environmental benefits, such as protecting water quality, wildlife, and endangered species. For well over a century, the companies involved in managing these timberlands have been guided by a commitment to stewardship and conservation, implementation of best available science, community outreach, and industry advocacy.
