Mekin Maheshwari

Overview

Mekin Maheshwari is an Indian entrepreneur and angel investor. He is the founder and CEO of Udhyam Learning Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on fostering entrepreneurial mindsets among youth in India. Under his leadership, Udhyam has reached over 1.6 million government school and ITI students across eight states, leading to an annual income uplift of ₹20 crore for 5,000 Istri entrepreneurs. Additionally, he co-founded the Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (G.A.M.E) and serves as an independent board member at TeamLease. Before his entrepreneurial ventures, Mekin had a distinguished career in the tech industry. He joined Flipkart in 2009 as Head of Engineering, building and leading one of the most impactful technology teams in the country. Later, he served as Chief People Officer, overseeing a team of 35,000 employees. His earlier roles included positions at Yahoo! and Lulu.com. Mekin holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Science from PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore. As an angel investor, Mekin has supported various startups and social enterprises, including UrbanClap, TapChief, Sheroes, and Quizizz. His investments span sectors such as technology, education, healthcare, consumer services, e-commerce, fintech, EdTech, SaaS, media, retail, logistics, enterprise services, social enterprises, non-profits, and tech startups. He is particularly focused on creating impact at scale in the fields of human capital and Ed-techs, with investments in companies like UrbanClap and Quizizz. His commitment to systemic change in education and entrepreneurship has been recognized by Ashoka, which named him a Senior Fellow in July 2025. Mekin's leadership is defined by his deep-seated belief in human potential, his tireless efforts to empower people, and his commitment to creating a positive impact at scale through education, technology, and entrepreneurship. He is also an avid sports fan, with a particular love for badminton.
