Overview

The West Midlands Co-Investment Fund is a £25 million initiative launched in March 2023, aiming to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with high growth potential in the West Midlands. The fund offers equity investments of up to £1 million, provided that the investment is matched by private co-investment on a £1 for £1 basis. This initiative is designed to bolster the region's economy by fostering the growth of innovative businesses across various sectors, including green technology, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and creative and digital industries. The fund is managed by Future Planet Capital Regional, formerly known as Midven, in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority. To be eligible for investment, businesses must be based in Birmingham, the Black Country, or Coventry, and must be revenue-generating SMEs seeking to scale their operations. The fund focuses on early-stage and growth-stage companies that demonstrate a well-developed proposition and a talented management team. By providing this targeted support, the West Midlands Co-Investment Fund aims to create a fertile environment for innovative early-stage businesses, contributing to the economic development and diversification of the region.
