Overview

Established in 1933, the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) is the oldest nationwide umbrella organization for the private sector in Uganda. Created by the business community during a time of economic anxiety caused by the Great Depression and the Second World War, UNCCI was reconstituted in 1978 and registered as a company limited by guarantee. The organization is governed by a set of by-laws enshrined in its articles and memorandum of association, with leadership chosen every five years at an annual general meeting. UNCCI boasts a multi-sectoral membership with nationwide outreach, characterized by a network of district chamber branches in over 126 districts across Uganda. This extensive network allows UNCCI to effectively support the growth of businesses in all regions. Through its global network, UNCCI fosters commerce and industry relations both within Uganda and internationally. The Chamber's mission is to promote and protect the interests of the business community in Uganda, working with key partners to enhance a favorable business and investment climate for sustainable private sector-led growth. Its vision is to be the leading private sector body for the business community in Uganda, providing members with an influential local, regional, and global network for business growth.
