Getting emails out of different kinds of PDF
- PDFs saved from other apps
- Brochures, reports, invoices and CVs exported from Word, Google Docs, Canva, InDesign or a browser store their text as text, so every address in them is found.
- Addresses behind links
- A button or link that opens an email stores the address in the link itself. The extractor reads those link targets as well as the visible text.
- Scanned PDFs and photos
- A scan is an image of a page with no text inside. Run it through OCR first, for example by opening it with Google Docs from Google Drive or using Adobe Acrobat's Scan & OCR, then drop the result here.
- Password-protected PDFs
- An encrypted PDF can't be read without its password. Open it, save or print a copy without the password, and use that copy.

Does it find email addresses in PDF links?
Yes. Links that open an email, like a "Contact us" button, store the address in the link. The extractor reads those as well as the text on the page.
Why does my PDF say no text was found?
The PDF is most likely a scan or a photo, which contains an image rather than text. Run it through OCR, then extract emails from the new file.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. Encrypted PDFs can't be read without the password. Save a copy without the password first.
Is there a page limit?
No. There's no page limit, only a 25 MB limit per file. Very large PDFs take a few seconds longer to read.
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. PDFs are read entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to our servers or stored.
